The Washington Post is weighing in... I miss ol' Davy Seagull, but this guy seems to have an ear.

Pitchfork was verrrrry dumb, but there wasn't a really big time, 'Hey Ya' style mega hit this year. There is no list in the world that all of those songs should have been listed on together. Too many genres. Either stick to Indie or put out separate lists per genre.

I submitted a few shows (Ted, Moz, Pixies, and Wilco) and my favorite cds (ted, ac newman, wilco, franz, tv on radio). Lets see if fake Segal has anything to say about my adherence to critical darlings. I did not choose Alan Jackson or any songs by Big & Rich.

Ha, I submitted Moz and TL (summer show) as well. Let's see who gets posted!

Looks like we're both on there. I'm #2 from Washington. Let's wait until noon to see what this joker has to say. Maybe we'll get some Dirda-esque "Ted Leo is very much in figures, most mid-20's cool guys want to rock like him. Try listening to a country album from before you were born."

I had just glanced at the pf top singles, and further exploration doesn't make it any better. First off, the case for "Big + Rich" doesn't address the SONG at ALL. I know they're trying to be all detached and unironic, and criteria for great single isn't the same as for great song, but the intro is all about GREAT SONGS, and the list is all about CRAP. NO ONE (NO ONE) likes Big + Rich, Mu, and the LCD Soundsystem. Not even a French disco cowboy in a bolo tie, smoking galoises and making eyes at Ian McShane.

Also, I kinda dig that Annie song, but Take me Out is without a doubt the song of the year for me, followed up closely by Float On, Me and Mia, maybe Bright Eyes' Take it Easy, maybe Kings of Convenience "I'd rather Dance" and "Irish Blood, English Heart". I'm going by pitchfork standards, that no one else other than the listmaker needs to actually listen to the song.

I know I'm a rock fan, but though I enjoy decadence as much as the next Bruno, a club hit does not a single make (I'm looking at you, Goldfrapp).

If I had to add a country song and a hip hop song, I'm going "Beer for my Horses" (which still gratingly involves Toby Keith) and either "Star" from the Roots or "Through the Wire" from Kanye.

I'm smarter than everyone. F___ Klosterman, my culture wins.
