David Arquette Calling....
He wants to know why you keep duckin him. Sorry if you caught my alarm clock this morning, I forgot to turn it off and it went off again whilst I was showering. Forgiveness prease.
I started 'The Know It All' on the train. It is quite funny, recommended thus far. I'm glad I got that sweet signed copy. This week will certainly be an absolute haze. Glide through today, tomorrow will be equivalent to a Friday since we have off for inauguration, then an actual Friday. Fantastique.
Kornheiser stretched it out to 2 pages this morning. Have a good day Biff, I'll certainly be asleep and full of Oriole hot dags by the time you get home.
Signed bookplate,
Jones, KC.

Infrequency and Indie Punching. Not Professionalism.

ALarm clock did not wake me up, but shower did. I wanted to get up at 6:10, so no big deal. This phrase occurred to me at 5:30: "I'm going to get myself, kicking and screaming if necessary, back to sleep." That's delirium.
Not to be a slave to the banal, but damn it's cold. The Passat was doing 140 from ignition. My office is also quite, quite chilly. Good to know my boss is in Fla, and I'll be here until the stars are out again.
David Arquette would be an annoying friend, and I'm sure he would call up and ask to play Xstation football all the time. "C'Mon," he'd say, "I'll give you Courtney's last Coke!" He would be a good moustache pal though.
Good to know your book is good. I've been reading Bellow's "Augie March"... veeeeerrry slowly. I've probably read it over 5 or so nights, and just got to page 100 last night. Doesn't help that I read other things some nights (Urban Outfitters catalog), then spend 15 minutes getting myself up to speed again on young Augie's troubles selling papes, that great american rascal.
You are right, it's very very cold. I blame the wind. 12th St is like a wind tunnel. Not a wind tunnel in the traditional sense, but a new badass windtunnel in which cross streets like MD Ave become cross-cutting windtunnels so as to chap every part of my razor burned face and make me strongly consider the pros and cons of ski masks on my 6 block journey past tall ugly gov't buildings and construction equipment.
At least 5 of my 15 unread books are being put off for 'Augie March' reasons. They will most certainly require review before every reading session. I have not done that in a while (a joy of being an Econ major, that along with a college life sans Cousineau). I think that Daedelus has spoiled me, I can continue putting off hard books since I can buy banal junk for 3 bucks. I can't wait till "Ritual Unbound" shows up there.
Maybe if we use the word "banal" a few more times, and throw in a couple "trite"s, people searching for pitchfork will come up with us instead.
Speaking of which, one of today's headlines is "Mary Timony signs to Lookout!" The subheadline should be: "After years of spastic badgering by her only fan, Ted Leo. Also, exclamation points added only because that's Lookout!'s thing; we're not particularly excited."
That was from yesterday you banal-hole, but yes Mary Timony does suck! The GBV feature is basically an editorial blow jorb and does not really address any criticisms of the band.
I don't know if 'the wire' will still be around with only me and some drug dealers as fans. Not many crack dens have Nielson boxes (or HBO for that matter).

I can see the battle for minor league utility infielder will be akin to a quarterback controversy. I think they're meeting with Delgado this morning.
News flash! The Mets don't want Delgado, in fact, they've sent him to the minors!
Oh, wrong Delgado.
From MLB.com/Mets:
10/6 Wilson Delgado (SS) Outrighted to Minors
I bet he could challenge the others for the coveted utilityman spot on the Orioles. Bird is the word.
On the Phillies side, there's been no actual team-related news in the Philly inq. for over a week. It's all been steroids and think pieces on the concept of arbitration... and a REALLY exciting intorduction to the new third-base coach. He's a journeyman. Word up.
How are we gonna get our grubby paws on this? Lets hope someone who goes to the concert on Friday picks one up and puts it on Limewire:
Decemberists Issue Moz Covers EP, Set U.S. Dates
"Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey." You heard right-- as previously reported, the head Decemberist will spend the bulk of January traipsing the country doing solo acoustic performances. And as we also noted, he will do so with a tour-only EP of Morrissey covers in tow. Only this time, we've got a tracklist:
01 I Know Very Well How I Got My Name
02 Pregnant For the Last Time
03 Jack the Ripper
04 I've Changed My Plea to Guilty
05 Sister, I'm a Poet
06 Everyday Is Like Sunday
On an unrelated note, I downloaded the ben folds/rufus wainwright version of 'careless whisper' and it happened to be the one from the concert I went to, it's just too bad that I'm never gonna dance again.

You know how sometimes it works out well that people don't understand the amount of work involved in computer editing? This isn't one of those times. I have a Deluise-sized load of changes to make, all of which, it's assumed, should take 5 minutes, but which actually require navigating the complex inner stupidity of MS Word, which so far I had used to my advantage - and I must do this mostly because not everyone is happy with the way the pages are numbered. Holy S.
I am buoyed by Colin Meloy's promised covers, though he could be a little lessoteric about it. I only really know 2 of those songs. On your version of Careless Whisper, can you hear Rufus shuffling the pages of lyrics?
Also, Bill Simmons is clearly taking a vacation, or concentrating his efforts on SportsGuy cartoons, which make Homestarrunner look ridiculously sophisticated. Another thing that may be taking up his time: I love the 90s appearances. He was the expert on Tyson getting knocked the [expletive deleted] out on VH1.
The ESPN Page 2 Daily Quickie cartoon: I thought maybe watercolor, but now I think, maybe... maybe magic marker. He got the 16-pack, though; I guess cartooning pays better than selling 32-piece sets.
Those I love the __'s have now taken the status of 'i will postpone watching this since i will certainly see it until it makes me what to throw up over the next 3 weekends.'
Definitely magic markers, possibly the kind where the blue smells like blueberries, that seems to be about the level of creativity that the cartoonist is comfortable with.
Azlo, it appears that NO ONE will be here tomorrow. Everyone is 'telecommuting.' I on the other hand cannot since I haven't been here long enough. It sounds like fun and probably involves quite a bit of 'televisioning.'
You can make fun. A 930 club person is going to get me the Colin Meloy CD. I'm a loser, but a resourceful music geek loser.
Bride of Azlo: I downloaded a bunch of Kings of Convenience songs. Pretty great, I'd definitely be up for going to that show. I think I say definitely and certainly too much. Your thoughts?
Definitely banal, and certainly trite. I say "certainly" and "absolutely" way too much in a business context. Everything I'm asked, I answer "certainly" or "absolutely".
Office person: "When are you going to lunch, Pete?"
Me: "Certainly."
Good jorb on the Meloy CD, I'm sure it will be better than seeing him live.
Also, maybe http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0001MKU2U/102-2896665-4998555
is better than that Sony. Granted, not quite as cool looking, but it is heaper, bigger, and has digital input.
There was a Princeton brand one at BJ's for bout the same price, might that be the same one?
New scrubs tonight at a new time (9pm) to accommodate my new bed time how nice of NBC.
I often answer people at work similarly, I fear that my 'kc is never genuine' persona gives my delivery of 'certainly' a bit of arrogant condescension. I should try to look in the mirror and say "KC.....you are never arrogant or condescending" without cracking up.
That may be it, I'm not sure. I thought the one at Third Circle of Hell Discount Warehouse was smaller, and I didn't think any of those had the digital input, but I dunno. I guess I should be writing this stuff down in order to get the best deal.
I know what you mean about your arrogance and condescension - I mean, of course, how it might seem that way. You and Dawson having lunch must be either a study in one-upmanship or a bizarrely comfortable arrogance stalemate, like opposing WWI commanders sharing tea in a crater in the Ardennes.
Good-night.
