Morning's Here...The Morning's Here
Well, today has started off well, my walk to work was brighter than usual. Just being less dark out makes a surprising difference.

Kornheiser rants about Redskins tickets:

Still angry about this:

Still happy about this:

Bobby Fray actually making duck tacos last night was ridiculous. I felt like Sherri and Terri, "She admitted it, Lisa admitted she going to marry a carrot." "Bobby Flay's really doing it, he's actually making duck tacos."
There's a Post chat about the Mac Mini today. I'm kind of interested in the Iraqi election stuff, pretty amazed that it actually happened. I guess it'll take a while what for to count the votes, not that I'll be familiar with the winner anyway (was that guy with the beard who is on my computer on the ballot? he's funny on South Park and has a bottle of 409 and some paper towels).
Weekend download list of songs you may want to take: All Bloc Party, Queens of the Stone Age "Little Sister," Beck "Guero," Daft Punk "Robot Rock," and the new Mars Volta epic which may not interest you. I'll probably finish "The Know-It-All" on the train this afternoon so soon we will let the Flauberting begin.

Infrequency and Indie Punching. Not Professionalism.

Nice morning must-read list. Won't be stealing any songs quite yet, as to cap off my stupid day yesterday I left my iPod attached to Courtney's computer in Towson. I feel naked. I will, hopefully, be macmini shopping soon after the superbowl.
The redskins are stupid, but I'm not exactly in the season-ticket market, so I don't care.
Maryland has a couple of nice wins, but I wouldn't say "the maddening team is maddening no more" yet. That's like when, after winning a playoff round, Allen Iverson walked off the court looking for Larry Brown, saying "Where's my coach? Where's my coach?" They still didn't get along, but it was a nice moment. I'll believe Gilchrist and Hyphen and Gary are all hunky dory when they're through the first round of the tournament. It is nice that it will piss off Wilbon (you keep writing Killbon, and I'm all "Kilborn?").
Jayson Stark addresses the trade, without adding much, really.

Seeing footage of iraqis dancing in the streets and lining up for the polls in the face of danger is heartening. Hearing that democrats are cautioning against premature celebration is disheartening. Iraq is a mess, the US's reasons for going are still suspect, but this is a happy consequence, and should be enjoyed while it lasts. IMHO. (Should also be noted that if 1 dem and 0 reps say something less than glowing, it's reported as "democrats say...")
P Fork has a list of top 100 singles of 2000-2004, a few randoms thrown in (not sure how Annie cracked the top 10 again) but generally not that bad and helped me kill an hour.
This week's KCooks meal (that's my new cooking show where I burn myself every week) will be in memory of King's Kabob. Choose between:
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_9007,00.html (could use chicken)
or
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_28788,00.html
Whose cuisine will reign supreme? Or rather...Whose name will I be cursing when I scald myself?
I'm not really convinced that Maryland is any good. I get excited when they win ACC games (particularly Duke, GT, UNC or Wake). Of the teams I follow, I do get into them the most, but the players are complete weiners and I'd prefer if they never said a word. I would azlo prefer a Kornheiser/Kilborn PTI, ohhhhh so snide.
There's a few more complicating steps in Tyler Florence's recipe, which would not bode well for the arms of KC (Kitchen Chef?).
Both are stupid about the curry; I'd suggest subbing our madras curry powder for the dry spices in their curry pastes. Those are a lot of spices that cost $$ and that we won't use often - unless, of course, this is the best vindaloo ever.
I'll buy a case of Taj beer in preparation.
I agree with you aboot the spices.
Any idea what to do on Saturday. I wouldn't know how early we would need to get to Iota in order to get in and therefore no clue as to what time to tell Catharine to expect us.
As for Iota, I have no idea. I figure look around this week, see if the show's got a lot of buzz, then figure out how early we need to leave - ask the guy who got you the Meloy cd what the Iota vibe is like, maybe. A Kings song was on the real world yesterday, does that mean anything?
Thievery, possibly self-interested? I didn't know they had a new album coming out:
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20050129/music_nm/music_thievery_dc_1
Some of this is funny, in a stupid way, but the last item is in unfathomably poor taste, considering the tone of the rest of the piece:
http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/football/nfl/10776793.htm
I am enlisting 9:30 club people for Iota advice. I'll keep you posted. They have been remarkably silent about Friday night. I thought it was great but might not have been the cup-o-tea for them. As for the Thieves themselves, they have their own press release here:
http://www.eslmusic.com/artists/thievery.html
and the album looks star studded. I'd be interested to see them on the actual tour as long as it's not at a retard dance club.
(Intense rambling follows)
As for football.....I will avert my eyes from print and begin singing "la la la la" when I hear any talk. I'm not interested in anything until Sunday. I'm already excited for the game, I don't need 500 ill-fitting story lines. It seems like both teams what to be the underdog with Phi. as the "we have long suffered" team who is the actual point underdog and NE as the "everyone picks against us" and "everyone is talking about TO" underdog. In the words of Ian McKaye "I don't wanna her it, I know your full of sh**." I remember playing that at a party at Brendan's apt, you and jack and I danced, now I'm never gonna dance again.......(sax outro)
Surprisingly star-studded. Wayne Coyne? Worlds collide.
I ramble without warning, don't worry.

The first one I got was Mikulski. An emphatic NOT. Hopefully, you get Hillary Clinton, because her picture is magnifique.
If you're interested in blowing money - I'm off that job for at least a week - there's a lot of kinda nice le Tigre stuff on Bluefly.
Senators are very ugly. Imagine how ugly the people they beat in elections must be. Gross
Thanks for the heads up on Le Tigre stuff. Some of it looks pretty good. I get paid tomorrow so I'll wait until then, if it's all gone, that's a sign.
No useful info from 930 club, Colin Meloy CD guy says "eat there, that way you're guaranteed admission" and another guy says he thinks he's going. Gosh.....idiots.
Bill Simmons has made me eat my words..... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/superblog/1
As good as that is, here is its polar opposite:

- with anguished face - Kip... My back... Kip... it kills... kills.
You're mom goes to college
I am now upgrading his name to Killbot since he spits out the exact dumb crap that i expect him to like a damn Stupid Machine. Either Killbot or Stupitron 5000. You be the judge because I'll assign the remaining choice to you.
Someone said they got to Colin Meloy at 7 for an 8:30 show and they were fine (there was probably more buzz about that show). The K of C is at 9:30. I guess it's kind of a bar/restaurant so we could always have beers, we wouldn't be stuck on the streets playing cards like black cat. Catharine suggested meet at her joint for drinks at 5 so I guess that'd work? I'll e-mail her this evening to let her know that's fine and that Courtney is coming if that sounds good to you.
I choose Killbot for myself; it's not even an insult, it sounds kinda badass - there's some days I'm definitely running Stupitron software though. By process of elimination then, Wilborn is Stupitron 3000. This is like naming kitchen appliances. That thing that toasts stuff? A toaster.
I'm goin on break. Maybe I'll even have some homemade sprite.
Of course the computer nerd is going to tell you to get the DVI. I stand by the "it's a music machine that you will be storing on a chest and operating from the floor" school of thought.
On that note, did you ask Stupitron 3000 about his GT pick?
Complications on the Kings of Convenience front. I don't think we can count on Courtney to make it. Despite her efforts, she's scheduled to work until 8, which means she can't go. She's going to try and switch to an earlier shift, but even if she does she (and I) won't make it in time for Catharine's. My gut is, she won't be able to switch, and therefore won't go at all, and I'll just ride wit you.
I hope it's not rude, then, to tell Ms. Clarke to count you in, but Court and I tentatively out, with me probably in - make sense?
Azlo, I'm expectin a letter from me ma, if it's there when you get home, could you let me know?
I dont think that's very rude, I'll let her know tonight. I/We are in charge of booze I think so that'll be fun. I did not ask the Stupitron a question but was glad it got asked.
I'll post on here or give you a call if your letter is there. Hopefully your mom is a more reliable shipper than Ian McKaye (where is my stuff?).
The mail included: letter from yer ma, my dischord stuff, some fancy scotch glasses. Would our heads explode if we watched the Minor Threat DVD and drank out of fine Austrian crystal? Lets find out.
