Our Founders...

Or at least pseudo-namesake, the Kings of Convenience, are on tour, and appearing at Iota in - groan - Arlington, on Saturday, Feb. 5th.

This is crappy. I kind of really want to go, but Iota - get this - doesn't sell advance tickets. You just pay a cover. I'm going to beat up KoC's scandinavian booking agent.

The new pitchfork is up. The jury is till out but I have a distinct feeling that their verdict will say our blog looks better aesthetically. The OBD review is pretty funny and pure curiosity swirls around a TMBG tribute with Frank Black singing "TIME..IS MARCHING ON..AND TIME....IS STILL MARCHING ON!"

Someone on WashPost "going out" chat, who might be you -or- you're the guy who signed "-frustrated in MD":

Washington, D.C.: Hey Gogs, I plan on going to see the Kings of Convenience at Iota in Arlington on Feb. 5. I expect it to sell out, but what's the deal with their tickets? They don't sell them in advance. Does this mean I'd have to get there before 5, when doors open, then sit around for a few hours before the show starts? Or can you go in, get tickets, and leave and come back in time for the show? Have you guys had any experience with a sold out show there?

Joe: Hello DC. Iota doesn't actually sell tickets, they stamp hands. So you can go early, pay for admission, get your hand stamped and leave. At least, that has been their policy in the past. I don't know that you'll need to get there at 5 and I'm not even sure they would start stamping hands that early. Probably best to call them the day before the show and ask them directly. The staff there is the best and I'm sure they'll be helpful.

Sounds like a Tej Leo Black Cat Backstage style scam.

I am, indeed, "frustrated". I thought about posting on the 9:30 board, but I don't want to draw undue attention to the show in case I end up trying to go. It's a Saturday, so I could go early.

I'd be interested as well, if nothing else it will make for a blog-worthy story. I'd also like to check out Iota. And by 'go early' i assume you mean early enough for Ralph's World Kids Show.

Yeah, what's the deal with the place? I don't really remember coveting any shows there before, but they've got Colin Meloy (decemberists guy), Kristin Hersh, Tommy Stinson, AND the guy from SR-71.

I'm very tired now.
