Sleep was better
I wish I would have watched, but I think I enjoyed sleep more:

"Tuesday, Maryland players received encouragement from three former Terps and current Washington Wizards -- Steve Blake, Juan Dixon and Laron Profit -- who showed up unannounced at Maryland's practice." Three!?!?! Name one other NBA team that has 3 guys who went the same college, and were there at the same time. Yeah the Wizards are doing well, but notably, Dixon is the only one who plays and the only one who was NBA worthy in the first place. Basically Steve Blake is an ugly mofo and I hate him, he talks like John Hall talks in NFL 2K5. Dumb.
Big story on the O's on ESPN.com today. It's INSIDER content. I'm glad they don't want anyone to read the things they put out. Crappitty crap crap. Also, sorry bout the NL East, I took a look at the rosters yesterday and the Phillies are screwed. Welcome to Orioles style purgatory where 3rd place is like 1st.
Azlo, in a non-sports related free agent move, Dirda is teaching at McDaniel (former Western MD) this semester. It seems perfect since McD is a lame college that thinks it is important much like our bespectacled pal. "Yes, McDaniel is very much in figures. On the one hand, Kristi Masimore's brother said that he would be honored to shotgun with me but I would much rather teach at the first college founded in the new nation."

Infrequency and Indie Punching. Not Professionalism.

I wonder if Dirda refused to teach there until they got a more prestigious name. He used to be called Michael Uppity Bastard, until he changed it to a less apt name to attract more students.
Yeah, sucks we didn't watch at least some of that. I heard some post-game stuff on 980 this morning; Caner-Medley and Gilchrist, together, might have half a brain. Not that Gary Williams is a Nobel Laureate, but it must kill him to have to talk to these idiots.
"No, no, no. First you pick, then roll! Caner-whatsyourface, put down that can of Moxie and listen!" Except with much more cursing, sweat, and aggravated mussing of hair.
Member's Only... Jacket??

Azlo, your whiskey glasses shipped today.
Caner-Medley and Gilchrist are complete rockheads. Gilchrist got hyped as NBA caliber in the offseason and it went to his head. He has turned into a total punk and Gary suspended him for a game already. Caner-Medley pulls his head out of his ass and has started making the big plays that they miss with son of Darrel gone, but he still takes a TON of outside shots so when he's on they win, when he's off, he's the sad white guy that can't shoot.
Tom Boswell as a column today. I didn't really know it was a contest. The picture of Angelos is very hideous.

That counts as my members only jacket for today.
I think Boswell is just ecstatic that he's now a baseball writer who actually has a team to cover. As you said, the Orioles are screwed no matter what; in the current climate, third is first. The best they can hope for, a few years down the line, is that second is first. There's nothing Flanagan or Angelos can do about that.
Doesn't change the simple fact that Angelos is a prick, and Flanagan is his toadie, and that's a shame. Anyone who thinks Delgado would solve any problems is kidding themselves. It's nice though, that the Os are trying to put a team on the field with entertaining names to say.
The Phillies are Os north, at this point. The NL East is not as insurmountable as the AL East, but the feeling of hesitant owners in it for a buck is totally there. Our GM is less affable, which only makes it worse.
Speaking of less affable, George Will column in the post on why chicks r dumb. Azlo, David Halberstam, the man with the smartest sounding name in the world (take that, Dirda!) will chat this afternoon.
Just doin some work here.
Tom Boswell is very much in figures, sometimes I like, sometimes I like not so much.
George F Will is, of course a pompous ass, and I don't necessarily agree with most of that column but the following is funnier than anything in Kornheiser's column yesterday:
"Is this the fruit of feminism? A woman at the peak of the academic pyramid becomes theatrically flurried by an unwelcome idea and, like a Victorian maiden exposed to male coarseness, suffers the vapors and collapses on the drawing room carpet in a heap of crinolines until revived by smelling salts and the offending brute's contrition?"
Maybe it's just the old-timey/dandy fop fan in me but that's funny stuff.
Azlo, I think we need an intern. Write up a "KoC announces....." style listing and get that to me post haste. You can set aside an hour for it if you like.
I can't schedule my life according to your absurd whims.
Also, should I still plan on a delicious dinner of meat-stuffed meat with meat on the side and trash wine?
Also, dunno if you've ever read the Richard Leiby chats on post.com. They're usually just fluff, and too inside-the-beltway fluff for me to care; he is after all a gossip columnist.
Anyway, he does often pepper his chats with excellent Clash references, and other assorted punk/new wave minutae, which is nice.
You know, I'm not sure we've been giving this guy ENOUGH credit...

Yes, still plan on meat/meat/meat meal. Leiby was too much fluff to keep me coming back, although Death or Glory is my favorite song.
I'll get to the Simmons mailbag after my phone conference at 1:30.
Damn, DC, why do you be so short, I mean expensive?
http://baltimore.craigslist.org/apa/57289268.html
DC be expensive because Baltimore be lame. That place looks really really nice though. I do think that neighborhood = not the greatest and most of the restaurants/bars are cross town. It's be nice if we went to MD Law or Medical.
Simmons, gold, as most mailbags are. Bill Cowher = Sgt Slaughter is probably one of my favorites. 80's song list is great and 3 of those songs are on the last CD I made.....weirded out!?!?!?
Weirded out to the max. I expected some Razor and Tie style Vh1 take on the 80s... but those are good songs!
Member's Only jacket, Part Deux?

What's that Ralph trying to pull? C'mon now. He must not be in the "World Travel Club."
