Wintery Mix

The Merlund game was amazing. There was much shouting and punching of futons by me, no witnesses.
I finished Madame Bovary and promptly mowed through about half of the Nick Hornby Polysyllabic Spree. It's pretty funny, every monthly column starts with a list of books bought and books read. It's not long so I'll probably finish it tonight.
Iron Chef was gross last night, I turned it off halfway through. The theme ingredient(s) were chocolate and coconut. The rule was that they had to make 3 savory/entree dishes. Mario Batali was the Iron Chef so I was not interested in seeing Coconut Chocolate Foie Gras Truffles.
I azlo watched Canseco on 60 minutes. That guy is either on drugs or feeling the effects of steriod use. He's all bloodshot and twitchy, I can't believe no sportswriter is going with that angle.
Ray Charles wins 8 grammies, telecast goes 14 hours before they realize he won't be picking them up.

Agreed on all counts. I caught some of the MD game, but I didn't see the overtime. The futon's alright, right? Is it whiskey soaked? I drank some Jameson and Old Speckled Hen and played Operation. I wasn't very good at it.

Glad Mme. Bovary treated you well, Nick Hornby is certainly a less sucky protagonist. Augie March is marching on through his 20s. I'm curious as to how long the man lives, because at this page/year ratio, he's not going to get much Social Security.

Got some Wrens songs, and some Digital Ash... songs, and a couple the Advantage songs. I especially like "Super Mario 2: Overworld."

It took approximately half a PTI SEGMENT for me to get sick of Jose. Man, he sucks. I hate watching him talk. I hate hearing people talk about him. Somewhere, I care about steroids, but Canseco makes me avert my interest.

Azlo, John Mayer wins a Grammy for that creepy song about fathers and daughters and lovers? Didn't that come out five years ago?

Barry Larkin, a Nat? Oh, a Nat coach, alright.

Augie was mentioned on Jeopardy the other night in the All/All's Quiet game. Also mentioned: LBJ started off as a secretary working for the Kleberg family at the King Ranch.
I downloaded the new HH Heat song (pretty good), Beck song from "Eternal Sunshine..." (very good), Lou Barlow covering Ratt's Round and Round (hilarious) and song M83 and new QOTSA (still deciding on them).
Bloc Party review on pitchfork makes them sound right up my alley with possibility of tri-microphoned antics.....and good drummer.
Can't say I've listened to Heavier Things more than twice, though I own it.
Poor Barry Larkin, always in the shadow of other shortstops: Ozzie Smith, Cal Ripken, then the pan-american A-Rod and Jeters.
Did you see Arrested Development last night? David Cross was very good, but Martin Short? Does any Non-Canadian over the age of 10 think he's funny?

I'm open to suggestions for KCooks this week. Lack of $ delayed last week's episode.

That Beck song from ESOTSM is good. Seems he's waged an effective gnutella war - very difficult getting any song save "guero", but on the strength of that song alone I might buy an albom.

The pf review of the new Death Cab single sounds their death knell in full "jumped the shark" mode, a saying which itself has really "married Irving". OC Rock is now an official snarky pitchfork genre, and I have mixed feelings about it. There's little dumber than that show and its fans. But what can I say, its writers/creative directors have solid taste. Sdtrcks to better shows in a similar vein (not a perfect match, but eg My So-Called Life) were embarrassingly worse. I bet Ben Gibbard gets a lot of tail.

The OC OST: new Angus soundtrack, new Clueless soundtrack, or just crap? Discuss.

I'll explore recipe sites for KC-hand-frying possibilities. Did not see Arrested Devp, I'll just wait for you to buy the DVD. Martin Short was HILARIOUS in Pure Luck. When he got stung by a bee and swelled up? Ha! 11-year-old Pete thought that commercial was great.

Difficulty psoting and deleting... hmmm.
This is grood. The last 2-3 paragraphs are particularly good - let's not think of the poor equity you have in your bin o' bad cds, or I had on my dorm room floor.

The pf article seemed to suggest that the whole beck album was avaliable, I couldnt get anything besides guero either. I did try, to no avail, to get more new Daft Punk. The French House is closed this week.

The death cab song is from the album that has been out for more than a year. I'm not sure what the deal is. I guess OC would be closer to clueless because of the wide audience but does not have the redeeming qualities that clueless had. I actually like that movie.

I saw Pure Luck at one of my friends' 10th birthday party, and what a fine film it was: http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0102729/

Scotch eggs it is, I'll call up Keith. Seriously, fish and chips isn't a bad idea, served up in some newspaper.

Wow, Pure Luck sucked. That entry made all the weirder because of the Simpsons connection... Harry Shearer is in it, and one of the characters is "Frank Grimes". That's like Jared Hess not knowing Elvis Costello used Napoleon Dynamite as a pseudonym.

Azlo, reviewer says "bitten by a bee"... who says that?
