Calliope Rock

It appears I had a few congruency problems when transferring songs from CD. The some of the Morrissey songs were one-off and therefore mislabeled. I found out the same was true for Tom Waits when I heard a calliope organ-laden song that was most certainly NOT "Cold, Cold Ground."

In relation to our Malkmus discussion last eve, Manchester Institute of Popular Culture is hosting a symposium. (Side note: One of MArk Ford's most hilarious ideas for a Phi Delt event was: Clyde Symposium in which Simpler would wear a smoking jacket, puff of a pipe and discuss literature and world affairs. Not word if every show would start with, "Hey.....it's me............Simpler.")

Tickets for this will be onscenely expensive. How unfortunate.

I Hate People. Brendan likes little kids singing rock songs. You can listen here. It's horrific.

Nationals, Phillies and Orioles are all 1-1. A dead heat.

Sucks to your iPod, or your computer, or to iTunes or something. Man, you have a lot of links in your initial posts. I only have time to react.

I recall the Clyde Symposium vaguely, a stellar idea that never came to fruition. Who would the other panel members be?
"I say, I believe Fallon is dumb. Cornel West?"

Yeah, I've seen Bruuuuuuuce before, it's only worth it when someone else is paying. I think the GoGs or someone said it's his first solo tour since ghost of tom joad. I dunno, I saw him like last year. Was that not solo because the E Street Band was there? How is Clarence Clemons a downside?

Phillies blew it. O's got blown out. Go baseball. Also: lowest attendance at the Phils' new park yet. Go Philadelphia.

Those kids are going to think they're awesome in a few years. I will find them and show them that picture.

Dinner tonight

I think Striner would probably also be at the Clyde Symposium. My hope would be that it gets sponsored by the Richard Harwood Series so they can get some big names.

The audio of those kids includes their version of "Vertigo," which is only slightly worse than Mike Noonan's version of "Fighting Cats."

Chris O'Meara is all over this. I have considerably less interest.

"Eh, lots of, stuff?"

"Clyde, Lincoln was the father of modern politics, see!"

The pf reference makes me really want to design an oh-so-clever neighborhoodie tshirt. But what to say? Other than "Honorary panelist for the Clyde Symposium"

"Some-sing weeth lots uf stuff...hmmm"

Haven't read Kornheiser yet. Would it kill him to write about a sport that is currently in season?

I keep up w/ Onion and Sports Pickle regularly but the Onion this week is as good as it has been recently, particularly the Cheney Offspring photo.

I spose I'll pick up some Red Stripe to go with our Don Pablo's combo?

Also, I know your interest in friendster was low, but WC students and alum now have access to Facebook, which is supposed to be cool.

Cheney offspring is the grossest thing I've seen since I was in our kitchen and looked up.

Pick up beer if you want, I think we could hold off a few more days.

A cave cricket-like creature is mentioned in "The Corrections." Maybe some Oprah book club members can help us with some extermination strategies.

How about this for a band name: Brain Trust Fund? Or Brain Trust Fund Kid, or whatever pejorative to follow Brain Trust Fund. I guess it's very hs/collegiate, as opposed to Press Gang.
