Isolated Idiot-Storms

I read this last night, it's too good not to go on here:
"Jonathan Safran Foer: I was thrilled to see that there was a chat with him yesterday. Have you read either of his books (I suspect not)? If so, what did you think?
Michael Dirda: Nope, haven't read him. Lamentably, I've now reached the age where I find it hard to believe I can learn anything from someone in his early to mid twenties."
What a fine attitude for a book critic to have.

Only days left until we get Sprung. At least the weather will be nice......oh wait, crap.

That's Dirda-riffic. I can understand that attitude in, say, my dad, but it's kind of unforgivable in a person whose job it is to read books. Nice toss in of "lamentably," just so you know he'd rather be able to enjoy that sort of thing, but he just can't. NEWS FLASH: Dirda likes black jeans.

I'm so very very tired. Looking forward to moving in the rain. I've never seen our apartment. I've never seen Silver Spring in the rain. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't have to - it might wash off the shiny newness and expose the unmistakable patina of crappy burb. Still better than Columbia.

I dunno what it is... I know SS will be cool. I know my commute will suck slightly less. I know our rent won't be outrageous, despite its river-of-money aspect. I know I'm excited to be diving out of the way of the advancing cave cricket hordes. Maybe it's just the undeniable fact that moving itself sucks a lot, but I'm not particularly looking forward to this weekend.

Also, is pitchfork moving towards a format of all reissue-album reviews, and all hip-hop single reviews?

It's the fact that moving will suck and will have a lot of costs associated with it. We dug in a nice ass groove in our current apartment and it's tough to give that up. Can we just fast forward to two months from now?

Pitchfork has learned quite abit from Rolling Stone on the reissue review idea. They were always big fans of that.
