And that's a fact....Jack

I have already seen two hilarious things today:
1) Man wearing Members Only jacket. Wow. It's gonna be 94 today according to our Silver Spring neighbors, this thing transcends all seasons. I have now seen someone wearing one in the snow and knee deep in summer humidity. What a cool club.
2) Oh, and some guy tripped then looked back, saw there was nothing on the ground then pointed at it. I'm pretty sure there's a Seinfeld stand-up bit on that but it's still damn funny.

Eddie Murphy said it best in Raw in 1987: "That Michael Jackson's a special kinda guy. He's good, clean, and wholesome." And what's up with his dad, Joe Jackson, err Joe Jackson, i mean Joe Jackson. Wow, if you have that name you must be real real ugly. Incidentally, this is still the greatest song ever, it's been all downhill from there.

All is well in baseball again. For a day there the Expos had a better record than the Orioles. The Phillies have won 6 straight? They're in a weak division and can probably just coast for the rest of the year.

Yeah, it's nuts that there's an argument that the NL East and AL East may be similarly competitive divisions. I'm sure the Phillies can't last. They're the Phillies. They've done a good job beating up on crappier teams and the AL, but they're still like 2-4 vs. the Marlins and have a tendency to get swept by the Braves. The best I can hope for is .500 rest of the way, which means 86 wins, which is not a playoff spot. Why is it you can't just fall into the playoffs in baseball?

On the plus side, Peter Gammons was on ESPN this morning claiming that the Yankees may have a fire sale come the trade deadline. I wouldn't be too excited about getting Tony Womack or Bernie Williams, but if they're dumping guys for prospects, that means more solid players available in July than at that point in years.

Of course, having gotten Ugly Urbina, the Phillies are proabably done.

Tripping is hilarious. Did I mention there was a bear on the golf course the other day? I wondered if bears tripped, becuse that would be really funny.

Note: don't google image search "steve o bear".

Bears, damn funny. Penguins and monkeys are also funny and less deadly. Lets get a penguin.

Post's tiny AFI write-up.

This place has beer too! The Post confirms. It does sound a bit hippie-ish, maybe the Andy's to the Quarry House's Bluebird?

Alright - I'm in for The Aristocrats (what is THAT crowd goinna be like?) as well as 930 F St. I guess I'll be begging for tickets to Comedians of Comedy.

But wait, why don't I just go to the show? Wha? Are they going to be at the Recher, or are they showing the movie? $17 seems cheap for actual standup, expensive for a movie. But Zach Galifinakagiorgio will be there. Also led to reading of Pattonoswalt.com. His blog is waaaaay better than ours.

Mayorga seems cool, not so sure about this: "The shop now hosts a free Jewish-themed drum circle from 7-9 p.m. once per month based on the cycle of the new moon." I do like Happy Hour Menus.

I'm wondering if people who look like the monopoly guy will be at The Aristocrats. I hope that there will be much storming out and "well, I never!"s.

I would guess if it's actual stand-up they would play somewhere down here too, but who knows. His blog is way better and he has a digital camera. Lucky.

I only participate in drum circles sanctioned by Mark Ford and George Shivers.

Odds that Jorge Shivers has worn a Member's Only jacket and a guyabera at the same time: very good. I'd say 5 to 4.

Looking at Mayorga, I might venture that we start the world's first book club with a two-drink minimum.

In the "Very very far off" category:
New Pornographers, 9:30 club, Oct 15th.
According to their website and p-fork.

Also, Ted Leo is next week. Badass. According to a thread on 930 club he's gonna be doing one of those Pancake Mountain cable access kids shows that day. I don't know why but Ted Leo and a bunch of little kids just seems a bit off to me.

Ah, Tej Leo. I miss his musical and comedy stylings.

Any films expected today?
