A Fat Guy, 2 Regular Guys and a Skinny Guy
Finished out the boring Film Festival with Control Room which was very good but has a very low rewatch-ability quotient. Croupier comes today.
Started this. Good thus far.
The Orioles' World Series homefield advantage is now assured. I listened to a bit of it on the radio last night and Ernie Harwell did some play by play. Twas nice.
Matt Groening and Seth MacFarlane are both huge nerds, it'd be hilarious if they actually fought.
Don't know if you've been to the My Morning Jacket website lately, but they've had a cool Nintendo Ice Hockey logo on there for a while.

Infrequency and Indie Punching. Not Professionalism.

I'd like to see My Morning Jacket on the Field of Heaven.
Coincidental on the book, I restarted it as well. Only got through the preface the other night though, where the "discover" of the book tells its sad story.
As a national league fan, I should really be annoyed with the stakes in the all star game, considering that since Back to the Future came out, the NL never wins.
It should be a good Os-Phils World Series, though, I predict Rick Dempsey will hit a home run.
I will be at L'Enfant Plaza with nothing to do at noon. Lunch?
You in this picture?
Good to know Melvin and Bobby are friends.
I'm gonna roll. If you want to lunch, call me.
I guess I just missed being in that picture. I would have been right behind the PA on the other side of the stage.
Aristocrats news.
iPod DJ at home, or abroad?
Speaking of hockey...
"It'll be a great thing to get the game back up," Columbus Blue Jackets coach Gerard Gallant said.
It should be noted that ESPN did not contact coach Gallant, he was screaming the above quote while running through the streets. ESPN could also not confirm that he was the coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, or if the Columbus Blue Jackets were in fact an NHL hockey team.
Seriously though, I will be interested in how the Sidney Crosby thing plays out.
Don't know if you're familiar with Borf at all, he has some good tags on the Metro ride to Silver Spring from DC and some good stuff downtown. Some of it is actually clever....but anyway....borfed.

Alright review. It's exactly what I would expect.
I think Klosterman has it easier than Hornby or Eggers (bafflingly referenced in this review!) because readers don't want anything new from Klosterman - and we can count on him not to try anything new.
Unlike Hornby, who seems to be unsuccessfully removing himself from his books in the name of maturity, and Eggers, who wants to write fiction and leave himself in there, Klosterman is a gonzo-ish journalist first, and can comfortably float between genre-iffic writing and self-effacement without having to worry about the consequences. The consequences are good.
Let's see if I eat my good pre-review. Is it obvious I like these writers?
I'm considering the public iPod DJ...
Oh, wait, before I forget. I'm interested to see how he addresses the Great White tragedy. His treatment of that one may define the rest of the book, because that's the one that has the most potential for humor, and is recent enough for that humor to be in bad taste. My question: Great White is not a good band. They are a funny band - I guess a "punchline" band. It's fucked up that 100 people died in that fire. I bet a lot of them were big Great White fans, and died doing something they loved. But what about the people who were probably there as a joke. What if you died at APG at that Styx concert? That makes for a difficult explanation.
"My friend died in a tragic accident a couple years back."
"I'm sorry. How did it happen?"
"Pyrotechnics at a Styx concert melted his face."
"Oh... was... was he... a big Styx fan?"
Yep, I want to read the book too.
And I was there to see Styx as a joke, but there to see Survivor in earnest.
