Quite Frankly

Listened to the Orioles game on the radio a bit last night. Guessing you didn't stick around long enough for Tejada's grand slam at the end, a shame they lost anyway. Did you see Tony Danza or Danny Glover? The Palmeiro bobblehead seems upset about this, Chuck Thompson shouts about Frank Robinson's 500th home run, I assume that's who he's siding with.

I did abuse Mayorga and get those BSS songs, pretty good. That Morrocco Mole blog also had a few of the Twin Cinema songs and the new Franz Ferdinand. New Franz is very dancy, not as good as "Take Me Out" and kind of repeats a lot in the same vein as "Tell Her Tonight." It still needs a few more spins.

Echo & the Bunnymen is listed on the Black Cat site at $20, and it's a Friday. Hmmmmm.

I did, in fact, see Tejada's slammy. It was badass, like, "Wouldn't it be great if he hit a grand slam? I mean, I guess that's a lot to ask, he already hit a home run last inning. Hey, that's a long fly ball."

It would have been cooler if the O's oufield hadn't pulled a Manny in the first half of the inning and let two runs score on a fly ball.

I wonder if Raffy cries when people say mean things.

Hey, you know who I don't care about? Lance Armstrong.

Yes, BSS songs good, Franz less so.

I think Morrocan Role also had "Black" by Okkervil River, which is only a half step down from the bleedin-vocal-cords goodness of "For Real."

Thankfully some nerd has the whole Lebowski script posted on the interweb:

LEBOWSKI
Bunny Lebowski. . . She is the light of my life. Are you surprised at my tears, sir?

DUDE
Fuckin' A.

LEBOWSKI
Strong men also cry. . . Strong men also cry.

Didn't Lance Armstrong used to have a dog?

I feel like I'm dumb, but then I think maybe the Emperor has no talent - I just can't keep up with the Fiery Furnaces. The only thing I don't hate about this track is that it might remind me of Augie or Middlesex. Probably it'll just remind us how everyone loves their own grandmother, but other people's grandmothers are kind of creepy.

I just had a gross scent/image association. Looking at those grandmas and getting a big whiff of mothballs and old lady perfume. Gross.

Grandma did not perform with Fiery Furnaces when I saw them, but my cousin and I agreed that the lead singer dressed and looked like my mom circa 1976.

I can taste the ribbon candy.

The Washington Post designs a dorm room.

Issues (just to start):
How many interesting and tasteless magnets fit on a "rolling fridge"?

Tapestries are new?

I still don't have curtains.

Rose's futons are about as comfortable as... (can't find pic of steve-o on bed of nails)...

I don't see any room for a passed-out roomate.

I saw that this morning and I think instead of 1995 and 2005, it should read Male and Female. Dudes' dorm rooms still look like the one on the left.

Jarmusch's "Mystery Train" is on it's way.

Good point on the dorm rooms. Really, who has a rolling fridge?

Jarmusched: is that the one with Strummer?

After ESPN's sneaker tournament, I was sad that novelty tends to beat out nostalgia. As a newly minted old guy, this was disappointing. Luckily, nostalgia seems to be doing well in this "Greatest Sports Video Game" tournament. I have t oadmit, I was a fan of both Excitebike and RC Pro Am. There were pro RC car racers?

Yes, Strummer is in that one.

I was never any good at RC Pro Am, so of course I hated it. Excitebike on the other hand, great game, way ahead of it's time with the create-your-own-track feature.

Probably the oddest thing I've found out from imdb:
W Earl Brown
The guy who plays Swearengen's main lackey, Dan, in Deadwood was also Warren in Something about Mary. He also played Meatloaf in a TV movie and as my dad/me in Scream.

Why is he wearing a cowboy hat in his profile pic? Is that how he dresses? I especially appreciate his work in "ALF: Der Film."

A guy at the New Republic claims iPods are ruining Rock Snobs' lives. I don't really understand what it has to do with dolomite.

That guy is clearly not a true rock snob like us, he refers to "having friends" which is a concept I'm not familiar with.
