Washington's Socially Broken Scene
I'm really digging on the new Broken Social Scene songs - Moroccan Role (blog) has several. They're all very good. I had given "You Forgot it in People" a chance when it was the coolest thing with a bunch of people in it, but it was too ethereal, except for "Anthem for a Seventeen Year Old Girl," which is good but kind of creepy. The new stuff really has some force to it, and the vocals [particularly the ladies - Emily Haines (Metric) and Leslie Feist (Feist, Stars, Kings of Convenience, etc.)] are awesome. Their songs sometimes make we want to lay down, but these make me want to go to concerts.
Did I get my blogs mixed up?
I'm going to this tonight.

Infrequency and Indie Punching. Not Professionalism.

Have fun at the Orioles game.
I think I gave BSS a try at some point, it may be time to revisit.
I was going to the NBC page to see if "the office" is going to have a fall season and noticed that a certain sweater fondler is on Law & Order SUV: The Escalade Files. As for the office, no word on new episodes, but it'll be on Tuesdays at 9:30 after some show where Jason Lee has a moustache.
I said fondue cheddar, I was thinking about making fondue with cheddar cheese for dinner tonight.
There was a preview for the Jason Lee show in the movie theatre the other day. Part of NBC's "It's TV!" campaign. You'll note another Mallrats alum is a costar.
Christopher Meloni is all over the place. DO NOT google image search for him and Oz.
Hey, the guy in BSS got beat up, at least give them a chance.
Is the voice of the can also McGurk and Dr. Katz's son? I think so.
It's a schooner.
You are right about the Dr. Katz/Can/McGurk. He also did something on Not Another Teen Movie which has a humorous listing under the "also know as" section (see Europe, it sounds like the name of a movie Scott and his Dad would watch together).
Okay, this is a funny story. 50 Cent recorded a radio promo for a station in Philly. From his statement, he obviously didn't understand the point. The radio ad has fitty saying
"This is the kid 50 Cent, and you're now tuned into my man, Gary Barbera... . Keep listening for your chance to win a Magnum... . I'm talking about Gary Barbera's Magnum."
Gary Barbera is the dealership, not a DJ. Anyway, the kid (I think Tyson should address this) is suing them for referencing the spot in a print ad.
Also, in the lawsuit, 50 is described as "a hugely popular and extremely successful hip-hop music artist ... known for his good looks, 'gangsta' image and hard knocks success story."
Is he trying to be funny?
Just for the record, Philly-area car ads put Mr. Tire to shame. The jingle for Cherry Hill (NJ) Nissan is "Welcome to our big big place we'll put a giant smile on your face! Cherry Hill Nissan, the friendly Nissan giant!" Naturally, there is a friendly nissan giant, and the jingle is delivered with Stan Bush-like enthusiasm.
Calvin and Hobbes return sounds a lot like the "Classic Peanuts" that they still run.
Sounds like they'll just be letting newspapers print old comics to plug the book.
This leaves even less room for my great stripthat I draw...that I work on all the time...and is funny...and about a fat orange cat.
