Some Stuff is Illuminated

Everything is Illuminated comes out this weekend, and I fully, unsarcastically expect it to be good. I hadn't bothered to read Liev Schreiber's story of the story - he read some of the book before it was published - and, though he takes himself a little seriously, it sounds like it turned out alright. Cinematography is by the same guy who did Pi and Requiem for a Dream, and they were loads of fun.

I expect the alphabeta band put on a good show?

Apparently, Dan Dierdorf expects a good Eagles/Raiders game this weekend, and thinks it'll focus on Randy Mouse and TO. I hate these things, but ...

In other news, the WaPo gets around to Soof-yawn, Touch That Dial (blog) has the MMJ Elizabethtown song and a cover of Dylan's "The Man in Me." My Morning Jacket and the Dude, what could be better? It actually sounds grood.

They were good, but the crowd suggested that a lot of kids had to have their parents Tivo the OC for them.

That Archie McPhee website has a section called Monkeys. Fantastic.

Maybe give up on pushing Tom Wolfe in the mud and direct our angst elsewhere. I'm sure he'll be hanging out with his biggest fan.

According to the Going out People, Dogfish Head is opening a bar in Gaithersburg. Not close, but closer.
