The Rabbit of Easter...
....he bring of the Death Rock. QOTSA set list from last Friday: Someone's in the Wolf, Feel Good Hit of the Summer, The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret, Tangled Up in Plaid, Broken Box, Leg of Lamb, Little Sister, Hangin' Tree, Burn the Witch, God Is in the Radio(remix), In My Head, A Song for the Deaf, A Song for the Dead, I Never Came, Avon, Mexicola, How to Handle a Rope, Go With the Flow, I Think I Lost My Headache.. Encore:Precious and Grace (ZZ Top cover), Regular John. No "No One Knows," but I think that Song for the Deaf/Dead in a row might make my head explode.
Kornheiser must be too busy writing scripts for "America's Most Watched Show w/ Malcolm Jamal Warner," I haven't seen a column in a month. Good thing Norm Chad keeps churnin' it out.
Don and Mike are on vacation, nothing more lame than that. They go away for like 3 months. On the plus side here are some hideous pictures of Fez and a website from a non-tobias funke guy who likes jean shorts.
If that twernt random enough...Pitchfork has the guy from "Of Montreal" listing his favorite and least favorite metal bands. His description of GNR should be enough to entice you: "They were like the older kids in my neighborhood who hung out by the gas station where I bought my Garbage Pail Kids." Also they will supposedly be updating their news section through out the day. Sweet? or just more Annie tourdates?

Infrequency and Indie Punching. Not Professionalism.

Covers mouth with one hand, points at Rivers Cuomo crying in the corner with the other, says "Ooooooh!"
I told a very disappointed mother that I had to get back on Sunday evening for a concert I bought tickets to, "like, before Christmas. I had no idea it was evil -I mean Easter."
That's a solid playlist. I like the omission of "Never say never", and the rockstar f-off one-song encore.
Kornballer is a lazy jerk. I want to feel bad for him and his crappy show, but I don't, mostly because his writing is better than his radio show, his tv show, and pti put together, and there's been 1 korntillion hours of Kornheiser on air since his last column.
When Kornheiser's daughter has her "coming out," will it be a korntillion?
Radio guys who think they're cool are not. There's little worse than an out-of-date topical show about a tired topic. "Hey Don, our guest today on low budget jeopardy is... Joey Bottafuco!"
Also, the guy pitchfork doesn't like is part me. I put instant pleasure on my WinAmp playlist - though I think Carmen Electra is totally heinous. I'm such a poseur.
He was going to write about baseball eventually. Just read the first line.
Back at the desk for some fleeting moments.
The Stephen A column is just as bad as ever. Funnier than the 1st line/sentence is the first thing I saw when I looked at it...above the title....PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES. When's the last time he talked about them?
I'm joining you in the "that guy pitchfork hates category" with my preference for flip flops year round, but I think Erik Lund is the perfect representation...."Baba O'Reilly" was in heavy rotation on his winamp all 4 years.
Also, aside from the random Dexy's song and a few others I could make this compilation from my iTunes library when I get home.
Rock Creek Springs called and said they have 2 two bedroom apts for the end of March/April and they haven't run the report for May but are very eager to follow-up with me. Looks like another good sign that we are looking early enough.
Wow, bears remarkable similarity to one of 14-year old Pete's favorite two-disc sets. Tell you the truth, I sneered at much of this stuff (I was all "Joe Jackson's not punk, my mom likes him."), but I had a secret affinity for the Iggy Pop, XTC and Stiff Little Fingers songs. And Devo. That's a retarded song by them.
Since you're wondering, the cover is a day-glo globe with a big safety pin through it.
Bush's brain in C-town.
Well, KC's not on it either, because I'm much closer to the fraternity than you two.
I can fwd you the emails, Brandon, just email me your address, panderson2.at.gmail.com.
Interesting about Rove at WAC, too bad it's on a Monday.
Those Phi Delts are really on the ball. I wish I could work for them in some kind of consulting manner.......
Urgh. The earlier mention of Annie, and the coincidental pop up of both of her tracks on the ol ippid this morning, made me revisit pitchfork's spilled words over her.
Vom. Ya know, I almost like these songs. This doesn't happen with all of PF's pet projects - I never want to hear Deerhoof again, I have Sonic Youth for that, thanks - but these songs are catchy, and hell, when Courtney left her Kylie Minogue CD in my car, I didn't rush to give it back.
What makes me really P-O'd is that PF has the nerve to credit Annie for making pop-music everyone should enjoy, regardless that it doesn't do anything new, and yet discredits anyone else who puts out similar albums for being stale.
I know, I know, this is redundant and bashing of an easy target, a veritable insufferable-hipster generator. It just annoys me that I have such mixed feelings about some music because of the way they address it.
I'm also pissed that a guy from royskopp is involved in the album, which makes all their "this is pop and completely disconnected from our coolness, but it's just soooo good we have to give it credit" schlock.
And don't even get me started on their veering among reader-response, new criticism, and marxist schools of crit. Don't.
This post would be a better conversation.
Let's have that conversation later. I'll have more fodder after today's double-back on Travis Morrisson's album. Jerks.
No Washington date on this list but there are some gaps that one could fall into.
Azlo, according to 930 Club people Bloc Party at Black Cat is sold out. Man, we are so f'in hip I can't stand it.
Hmm. Playing the LEctric Factory in Philly, eh? Does that mean a possible 930 stop? I'd be quite down.
Quite down too.
I think this is what they mean by bad to worse.
I can't seem to swing a dead cat without hearing or seeing something about the new Ian MacEwan book.
