It's Tuesday?

Next 3 are:
Wilco Documentary I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, Bubba Ho-Tep, and Disc 1 of Scrubs: Season 1. If the trend holds true they should come one-a-day on Wed, Thurs and Friday. I also put DiG! on there, it's that Brian Jonestown Massacre and Dandy Warhols thing that is supposedly good for all reasons except the music. I think some "Golden God"-style posturing is involved.

Hot Love & Affection. Ah, yes, Video Game Boy #1, which reminds me, I should add this to Netflix.

Norm Chad, not that funny this week, he should leave making fun of Ricky Williams to Dan LeBastard. In other sports news, this guy is still a jerk with a funny voice and the Orioles got swept by the Tigers over the weekend, then beat the Red Sox 8-1 last night.....odd, I hope they pick up this guy.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water....

AZLO!

An article about one of our favorite clubs. This guy always had my favorite club and this guy was my favorite musician who never appeared at the 9:30 Club.

Azlo, Orioles swept the Ancient Mariners, but the Yankees have been winning and are now tied for 2nd with Toronto. Have you noticed no one calls this guy "Alex Rodriguez" anymore. I mean that's his name, A-Rod, gimme a break. On the plus side, I suppose we have Boston people to thank for the many humorous photoshopped A-Rod pictures. Many of the "ball slapping incident" such as here and here. One of a Yankees mandate. And I guess we have Peter Gabriel to thank for this one. Now...Sammy Sosa, there's someone to look up to he never does anything stupid.

Have fun this weekend, playing My Little Ponies with Erik. That picture will have to work, I couldn't find a good one for Sully from Commando, who still seems to be finding work. You may remember him as T-Bird in the Crow. Oh yeah, this.

And now, Jon Stamos...'s brother...

Andy Rourke is DJing at DC9 Saturday. From the Nightlife Agenda:

"Andy Rourke, best known as the bassist for the Smiths, is DJing at DC9 tonight. "We know all about 'The Queen is Dead,'" you say, "but can he DJ?" The answer: Sort of."

I believe he's me. I will be DJing Rock Creek Springs this evening, with a similar mix of Brit Pop and a focus on the Smiths. Sidenote: famous rock club in London, The Rock Garden; perhaps a future partner in transatlantic rock'n'roll and pleasant things to find in your yard?

Feel My Heartbeat

Just when we thought no tours were comin' round, here comes Annie. Damn, not anywhere close to us.

Sammy returns, Orioles win. Yankees have won 13 of their last 15. Annoying. Basketball is still going on. More annoying.

We just need cable before Spring '06.

I often have a similar plans.

Problem with Cash

Er, cache. I think I'm nixing Firefox. It's got a problem showing outdated pages, and I don't have the patience to mess with the settings to fix it.

I heard Sammy Sosa on the radio today. He's back for the O's next game. He said something to the effect of: "It'll probably take two or three games to get back to normal. But, you know, icould go 4 for 4 Tuesday. That's how basaball is. I'm a gamer." I said, Zuh? Side note, I dislike Laura Vecsey.

I will gladly pay you today for a pizza last week.

Silverdocs. I posted the link to the 9:30 doc on the 9:30 forum. They may be showing it at the club this Sundee. I'll be playing the ponies. Er, ponies.

The U

I forgot to bring an umbrella today,
This afternoon I surely will pay.
Very wet, I shall be.
I'll just play some Megaman 3.

TK talks about the Redskins and Miami guys being jerks. Norm Chad reminds us that basketball is still going on....but not for long.

Here's the Harry Potter thing I mentioned. Doesn't say how much of the book she'll read. Maybe it's short like Harry Potter and the Pamphlet of Mystery.

The Philles took 2 of 3 from the Orioles. Jerks.

I've Missed the Hell Out of You My Darlings

Where's my havalina? I think it got lost in the move.

Trump's Jerkness. Earl Weaver bobblehead story without photo.

I don't know about you but I need a move-free weekend.

The Summer of George

Arrested Development was renewed for another season. Listen Up: cancelled. No word on The Office's fate, but thank god Yes, Dear and Joey will survive. Oh wait, we don't have TV anyway, better pick up the Scrubs and Wildboyz box sets.

That Kafka Americana book is kind of funny.....in a "German nerd" way. Good thing it's only 80 pages.

A resolution for our year in Silver Spring: more Karl Denney. I like that guy and he'd be helpful to have on hand for our next move. I might try and walk around this evening and see what's to be had around the Silver Sprung, mainly hoping for an ATM.

I Ruv Me Too

In an Eerie coincidence, "Turning Japanese" came on when I was riding the escalator this morning. Rather than making me feel like a mindless robot, it made me think I was a giant bi-pedal Panda who should run rampant throught the District lifting up Supreme Court Justices' robes, stealing Senators' briefcases and rolling up the Declaration of Independence in order to eat it like a stick of bamboo.

It's funny that the blogger linked to our chat about Dirda, paticularly because we also talked just as much about moving to Silver Spring in that thread.

Orioles and Phillies in Bawl-t-more this weekend. Lamentably, we have no money.

Norm Chad is Kornheiser's Hood Rat Friend

The new morning commute was pretty good. I'm interested to see how yours will go. The afternoon is when I'll be saving the most time, thank god there's plenty of unpacking to do.

Get drunk.

In sports, the Orioles took 2 of 4 from the White Sox and are still in first place. Fantastic. Also, Norm Chad said some stuff yesterday and Kornheiser said some stuff today.

The Silver Spring Trail

Aw, my oxen died, and Pete has Cholera. Load up on laudanum, my friend, and prepare for the long haul.

I guess Pitchfork's Friday special is download party. Might I suggest informing your own dl party with UKVH1's indie 500. I look forward to the Happy Mondays' Kinky Afro (#500) and lots of Stone Roses.

Can't wait to get back and pack while drunk. "Eggs and... records? Yeah, same box."

Isolated Idiot-Storms

I read this last night, it's too good not to go on here:
"Jonathan Safran Foer: I was thrilled to see that there was a chat with him yesterday. Have you read either of his books (I suspect not)? If so, what did you think?
Michael Dirda: Nope, haven't read him. Lamentably, I've now reached the age where I find it hard to believe I can learn anything from someone in his early to mid twenties."
What a fine attitude for a book critic to have.

Only days left until we get Sprung. At least the weather will be nice......oh wait, crap.

Back in your Element

You knew it was coming. I also like this guy and this guy. In my dreams they all hang out together and talk about the actual stars that were on those teams with them. Is it wrong that they all have World Series rings? I guess a lot of crappy players do.

WaPo review of Weezer.

I guess I need a check from you today or tomorrow for your half of Rock Creek Springs rent. I'll get the money order Friday when I'm off.

Orioles and Phillies both ended up losing. Crappolla.

The World is a Vampire

Billy Corgan is stupid. That dumb line played on myPod this morning and now it's in my head. It means nothing. The world sucks? Is that what it means? The world sucks like a vampire sucks blood? What about Count Duckula and Danger Mouse.....I mean....Danger Mouse. They had some wicked mash-ups.

.4?, c'mon. Jerks. Speaking of jerks.....who hates driving?

Orioles and Phillies won, what a wonderful world.

That author I like so good is gonna be on the Post's chat. He had a nice item in Book World over the weekend.

Your Own Personal Jeebus

Add Depeche Mode to the automaton escalator playlist.

I think that only 2 things will survive the apocalyse. Cockroaches and members only jackets. I just don't get it.

The Decemberists are fantastic. That video is nice. It makes me smile.

Kornheiser had a column on Kwame Brown over the weekend. Norm Chad is consistent.

I had a couple glasses of trash wine last night, I think it made me have crazy dreams.

Weekend Update

RARE WEEKEND POST

A quick post-concert search for Decemberists-related junk turned up... a LOT.

Streaming audio of the show, courtesy NPR. Sounds great, though Meloy's voice is a little shaky.

I was intrigued by the violinist/singer girl in the band. Turns out I had reason to be. She's Petra Haden, absurdly well-traveled bit player and more in just about every music scene (the allmusic profile is out of date). She's daughter of Charlie Haden, was in that dog. and the Rentals for some reason, released an a capella version of "The Who: Sell Out", and also appears on Beck's new joint. Oh, and she also has a collab album with jazz guitarist Bill Frisell. Just odd. I mean, she seemed cool, but not that cool.

Also, they used to have a girl drummer, but she left. Unsure who's drumming on "Picaresque," or who's who here.

Also, Courtney should rejoice, because the Kate Bush song Ms. Haden sang was called "Wuthering Heights." Man, that was quite an English-geek concert. I would love to watch Deadwood with Colin Meloy.

Busy signal

I'm real busy this morning, but I may try and cut out early. Courtney doesn't get out of work unitl 7-8ish - she'll be coming down soon as she can.

Don't mean to alarm, but have you seen our tickets? I went to get them out of my "pile of important stuff" this morning, but could not find them.

So, Sufan Stevens... What about him?

Frazz

I'm not crushed that I missed it but the Minutemen documentary was screened at the Black Cat the other night. Someone had this to say:
"Ian MacKaye was sitting right behind me, and was wearing the exact same thing as he was wearing in his interview segments[in the movie] -- right down to the same black watchcap worn slightly askew on his head."
What's the deal with that guy anyway?

Willy Mason is out of the Decemberists concert according to the 930 website. Rebecca Gates, from the Spinanes, who opened for Ted Leo backstage, is in. I do remember her being better than Mary Timony, but really who isn't, even the Press Gang is better. Press Gang was also a BBC TV series. I get to be Spike Thomson or Colin Mathews, you can be Frazz Davies. We need a new band name.....and a band.

Wednesday, May 04, 2005

As previously discussed, New Order songs coming on my iPod when I go up the escalators in the Metro makes me feel like an automaton, the Phoenix song "Too Young" from Lost in Translation can also be added to that list. It makes me kind of sad. Then "Trans-Europe Express" comes on when I'm on the train and makes me laugh und giggle like these guys.

Orioles lost thier second in a row....unacceptable. The Phillies won without Thome.

If you watched any game in the NCAA tournament you know that this guy is a complete joke. And that he's real ugly. That's what my friends in Subsist would call an 8th Grade Badass Moustache.

We-Haul

14' truck reserveded for May 14. Synergy. They're supposed to call me tomorrow and let me know what's up, according to my reservation. I'll borrow a dolly etc. from work, I suppose it'll come in handy (?). Better than paying UHaul $7.

That's about it. I borrowed some movies from Court's house - Mean Girls and Aqua Teen Season 3. I'd like the Chester River song adapted to fit one or both of these, and/or scrubs and Wildboyz. In the words of the great megaphone crooner Kid Jersey, thank you.

Rootin' Tootin'

Sung to the tune of "Chester River Song":
I wanna watch last night's Deadwood,
Lay back in the TV's glow.
I wanna watch last night's Deadwood,
Only one more til super cable goes.

With my face in some Chili and a National Boh,
Oh Lordy that's what I call fun

We'll have to bookend this week with old timey-ness. If we watch Deadwood tonight and go see the Decemberists on Friday.

This was the German place that we ate at on Saturday. Wunderbar! Speaking of Germans.....

I knew they like this guy, but Indian people do as well.
