Morning's Here...The Morning's Here
Well, today has started off well, my walk to work was brighter than usual. Just being less dark out makes a surprising difference.

Kornheiser rants about Redskins tickets:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A49906-2005Jan30.html
Still angry about this:

Still happy about this:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A50040-2005Jan30.html (I'll enjoy PTI today since GT was Killbon's national champ pick)
Bobby Fray actually making duck tacos last night was ridiculous. I felt like Sherri and Terri, "She admitted it, Lisa admitted she going to marry a carrot." "Bobby Flay's really doing it, he's actually making duck tacos."
There's a Post chat about the Mac Mini today. I'm kind of interested in the Iraqi election stuff, pretty amazed that it actually happened. I guess it'll take a while what for to count the votes, not that I'll be familiar with the winner anyway (was that guy with the beard who is on my computer on the ballot? he's funny on South Park and has a bottle of 409 and some paper towels).
Weekend download list of songs you may want to take: All Bloc Party, Queens of the Stone Age "Little Sister," Beck "Guero," Daft Punk "Robot Rock," and the new Mars Volta epic which may not interest you. I'll probably finish "The Know-It-All" on the train this afternoon so soon we will let the Flauberting begin.

Get Medieval on Yo Hand
I figure if anyone asks about my burn I will tell them I was trying to break into a castle, had crossed the moat and someone started dumping hot oil on me from the portcullis. Damn Rachael Ray.
Jim Davis (garfield) is having a Wash Post chat today, I'd like to hear his thoughts on why he sucks.
Bobby Fray sucks.
I should be gone most of the morning, practicing my hip-hop dancing for tonight.

Sleep was better

"Tuesday, Maryland players received encouragement from three former Terps and current Washington Wizards -- Steve Blake, Juan Dixon and Laron Profit -- who showed up unannounced at Maryland's practice." Three!?!?! Name one other NBA team that has 3 guys who went the same college, and were there at the same time. Yeah the Wizards are doing well, but notably, Dixon is the only one who plays and the only one who was NBA worthy in the first place. Basically Steve Blake is an ugly mofo and I hate him, he talks like John Hall talks in NFL 2K5. Dumb.
Big story on the O's on ESPN.com today. It's INSIDER content. I'm glad they don't want anyone to read the things they put out. Crappitty crap crap. Also, sorry bout the NL East, I took a look at the rosters yesterday and the Phillies are screwed. Welcome to Orioles style purgatory where 3rd place is like 1st.
Azlo, in a non-sports related free agent move, Dirda is teaching at McDaniel (former Western MD) this semester. It seems perfect since McD is a lame college that thinks it is important much like our bespectacled pal. "Yes, McDaniel is very much in figures. On the one hand, Kristi Masimore's brother said that he would be honored to shotgun with me but I would much rather teach at the first college founded in the new nation."

I'm having issues with your dream dad today. The column is funny at times and I agree that Waffle House, IHOP and Applebees are lame but I'm just really not interested. I don't care if Jacksonville is a dump, neither do 90% of his other Washington area readers, he's just pissed because he has to go there to cover it and hang out with Killbon (new name for Wilbon since he KILLS). I would also not classify .38 Special as a "Southern hair band," sure they were hairy, but they weren't hangin' out at a lot of Crue shows. I'm also shocked to find that stat boy has lived in New Jersey! Breaking News! Oh my gawd! Sarcasm Alert!

I'll be slamming heads all morning and will return around 11.
I'll probably be watching best of Will Ferrell all night. Not Wayne's World.

Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed Zed
I am not very interested in being awake. I need to get some solid sleep sometime this week, what with it being 5 whole days in a row and all. Who thought that up? He surely didn't work for the federal government.
I'm ready for the Carlos Delgado thing to end, like you said yesterday, he's not a big enough deal for all this. Azlo, your Iggles Pop are shaping up to be quite the underdog, good thing? Jen Carey is certainly retarded, if she's looking for a way to waste money, I'll take some of it.
This man also, does not possess a fully functioning human brain:

Going to Best Buy to get the Bright Eyes CD's tonight, interested?

Musikladen Independenten
Wilkommen all post-punk alt-rock legends. We are here to entertain you. Please to be observing some recent reviews:
"It's pretty funny" - Bob Mould
"Stop bothering me you moron" - Paul Westerberg
"It's pretty good, but my moustache is better" - Greg Norton of Husker Du
"It gave me a headache" - Frank Black
"We're still pissed about Guided by Voices" - Stephen Malkmus and Lou Barlow
"Ballhog or Tugboat?" - Mike Watt
"Thumbs down" - Ian McKaye
This makes me curious:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A31639-2005Jan23.html
These turned out ok. On the last one it looks like I'm waiting for something to come down the hallway so I can hit it with the shovel.
http://www.duke.edu/~jh44/columbia/
Orioles and Marlins are the only 2 teams left in the Delgado race. Wierded out?!?!?!
Norm Chad talks a little about Pennsyltucky:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A31438-2005Jan23.html?nav=headlines
I'm still deciding what legal action I will recommend to the estate of Joe Strummer Re: Arcade Fire. Damn Canadians.
Should I be getting up earlier so I can warm up my car for longer than 1 minute in the morning? All I can say is that the station wagon would not be having any of this.

BGE bill went back up after being low for a little while. I think it was about 80 or so.
Are you gonna be around for football on Sunday? If so we may want to try this wing cooking method (not the sauce, just the frying then sauce, then bake) by the evil Rachael Ray:
Rachel's Recipe
Might be tricky with frozen wings.
RFK baseball will be very Vet-like. Huzzah Multi Purpose Estadios! Viva El Zol!

I may take the Fordham jug to get filled tonight. Will I look like a complete moron? I think so.

Dear Gournal...
Traffic was sweet this morning. I was a little early for work. Contemplating possibilities of sleeping with eyes open.
Checked out philly.com to look for any Phillies news, like maybe they signed a lifetime 5.40 ERA Reliever to a multi-year contract... That was yesterday. Today, they joined the Orioles in the legendary baseball off-season, the Slightly Lukewarm Stove League, and signed Jose Offerman, veteran (dare I say journeyman?) utility infielder. The words are almost the same as the Sunpaper's: "The Phillies have a little more competition for their bench jobs." This is excitement?
Also interesting, which headline is not like the others?
Blitz package: Sunday could bring ... snowballs
Bill Conlin: Some flaky proposition bets
Snow or no snow, Eagles to play as scheduled
Sam Donnellon: More Vick runs, higher the Falcons fly
McNabb, Vick set for milestone game
Stephen A. Smith: Atlanta has a defense

The greatest inauga-, inagyoo-, inaugural concert ever!
Washington Post on youth concert...

David Arquette Calling....
He wants to know why you keep duckin him. Sorry if you caught my alarm clock this morning, I forgot to turn it off and it went off again whilst I was showering. Forgiveness prease.
I started 'The Know It All' on the train. It is quite funny, recommended thus far. I'm glad I got that sweet signed copy. This week will certainly be an absolute haze. Glide through today, tomorrow will be equivalent to a Friday since we have off for inauguration, then an actual Friday. Fantastique.
Kornheiser stretched it out to 2 pages this morning. Have a good day Biff, I'll certainly be asleep and full of Oriole hot dags by the time you get home.
Signed bookplate,
Jones, KC.

People v Chaz
In this case I will be arguing on behalf of Bob Mould. We should definitely go to his show on Friday January 21st. I will present all of the evidence gathered from various sources.
Exhibit A: http://modulate.blogspot.com/ . This is his blog, he uses the same blog service as us and is a cool guy. This is the website for Blowoff, his 9:30 Club dj set: http://blowoff.us/. If you check out the playlist you will see that he plays Weezer AND Lindsey Lohan (it's like he's in our heads).
Exhibit B: This is a setlist on some Philly guy's blog:http://www.monorailmike.com/archives/2004_12/index.html#137 (it's under Dec 3rd). He plays Husker Du and Sugar songs. Azlo, 'makes no sense at all' is fantastico!
Exhibit C: 9:30 Club Forum people say these things:
"I saw his Birchmere show last month. Half-acoustic/Half-electric. I think the only Husker Du songs he played were "I Apologize" and "Celebrated Summer". My first time seeing him play (not counting WedRock). Great show. Highly recommended."
"He generally plays a few Sugar songs in his solo sets. Expect Your Favorite Thing, Hoover Dam, and if you're lucky the Explode and Make Up/Hardly Getting Over It medley."
They also suggested that I email the Bob, which I may do.
Premptive defense: If Courtney is free that night, perhaps she and some friends could hang out in Anny-polis and we could meet them for cocktails afterwards (it is an 8:30 show and I'm not sure they have openers there).
Ticketing at Rams Head is weird so I'm guessing the sooner we decide the better:

Our Founders...
Or at least pseudo-namesake, the Kings of Convenience, are on tour, and appearing at Iota in - groan - Arlington, on Saturday, Feb. 5th.
This is crappy. I kind of really want to go, but Iota - get this - doesn't sell advance tickets. You just pay a cover. I'm going to beat up KoC's scandinavian booking agent.

"Esta! Es! Tu! Nueva! Radio!"
HFS is actually in Lanham. Maybe you can go over there and pillage at lunchtime. I officially do not care, although I enjoy the thought of people who didn't know of the station change, getting in their cars this morning and being treated to Senor Ace's Mexican Ranchero Morning Zoo. As Mike Tyson would say, "they'd been fading in Bolivia for years and yesterday I finally ate their children." Let us never speak of it again. Viva El ZOL! Journeyman (n) - a player in sports whose 1 or 2 good seasons have earned him at least 5-6 more in minor league/backup roles, players are frequently dealt and only called journeymen as the reach the end of said journey.
I hate journeymen.
Kornheiser is funny in an article that is predicated on him not being funny.
7.55 and no p-fork update, grumble.

From my buddy Steve Jorbs comes a new object of desire, desire not out of necessity or practicality, I just have the distinct feeling that this machine is cooler than we are.

Pitchfork. It is funny at times and makes me happy for the 7 minutes it takes me to read it. Then I complain. There is a lot of "news" on there but that's only because all that stuff happened while they were exchanging the new "Man Man" or "Les Savy Poop Poop Crap" record during secret santa at the pitchfork x-mas party. I give them a big boo-urns and they earn my "Just Shut Up" Award for today for their Orioles style excuses.

All you ever wanted to know about Ween...

Allmusic's take.
Choice tidbits: from New Hope, PA (PA's Provincetown); began recording as Dean and Gene Ween at age, uh, fourteen; "Push the lil' Daisies" was a top-ten hit... In Australia...

Disappointed
I asked the slouch (Norm Chad):
Can you please remind us all again: why exactly is he called 'the matador'?
He responded:
You are a hoot and a holler (though not $1.25 richer, at the moment).
Thanks for reading.
See the brilliant queries he chose (azlo, we should go bowling, it'll be fun exactly once):

D-Funk
The Flat Front Dawson Chino had some valuable information. He said that he went through Yarmouth Management to get his 3 br townhouse and recommends them. He said his place was completely renovated and has w/d, fireplace, Moustache TV ready, Nintendo compatible and granite countertops. No word on whether or not he got a free Pinpoint Oxford shirt with his lease.
Les Boulez
Won convincingly over a decent team last night. I don't really care about that, what I do care about is that it was Gilbert Arenas' 23rd birthday. By NBA standards he'll be over the hill soon. I really feel sorry for the Warriors, they had a bunch of these guys, Larry Hughes, Arenas, Anferneetwan Jamison when they were dumb rookies and lost them before they got their acts together. Oddly enough the Wizards have a history of Ex-Warriors, they stole C. Webber and Mitch Richmond from them back in the Boulez days.
Azlo, "Me and Mia" is the greatest song ever, this occurred to me as I was walking down the street and it came on my eyePod. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it and no way anyone could say they don't like it. Except for your powerglove, it hates Ted Leo because it is retarded.
Azlo 2: The Return of Azlo, there's an article in the Post on the Scissor Sisters with a FABULOUS picture of them. Their original name was apparently "Dead Lesbian and the Fibrillating Scissor Sisters."

More tickets...
Been rotating these guys in myPod a bit recently, and they'd probably be more Jam than Paul Weller. Retro is weak, but solidly influenced is good. If only TL/Rx opened...
Futureheads at 9:30, Mon. Feb. 21
Perhaps? Do I see another crazy concert week approaching? Unfortunately this one's a monday. Might well go the way of the shirts I'm not buying. I may be involuntarily boycotting British stuff.

Smug
I think I look more smug than snide in the photo:

Please to be clicking on the photo for biographical info on the competitors. There seems to be slightly biased.

"E" Mail
I read this again and decided it was too funny to keep to my fancy shirt fancyin' self.

Dear Mr. Anderson,
Happy New Year and thank you for your "E" Mail.
Americans are certainly not difficult to deal with we find that usually you are charming and straightforward. If you would be kind enough to let me know your collar size and sleeve length I will have the selection from our Warehouse Sale forwarded to you via an "E" Mail Attachment.
With Kindest Regards, Coles-Shirtmakers, A. G. Finch.

From the Post article on new radio formats from Sunday:
• Later this month, Clear Channel will convert its Sports Talk 1260 WRC-AM to the liberal political talk that Air America is selling as an alternative to the nation's most popular talk shows, most of which have a conservative bent. The new WRC will bring Al Franken and other liberal talkers to this market, albeit to a station with a weak signal.
I'll keep you posted on Wilco, tickets go on sale at 10.

Oh my
Some of it is kind of funny, but.....oh my. I recommend you and Dr. Cankersore (Hankerson) need to get a contest going, post haste. You can guess who's idea it was to add elaborate cufflinks and moustaches. Suspenders is a concession to him.

Our servers actin real funny like with secure hosts, which makes making sure I'm in the black with MandT a pain. Hopefully all is back to pre-holiday distraction glory on the interweb. Here's to a New Year of productivity!

Infrequency and Indie Punching. Not Professionalism.
